Core Program Strategies of
Yeshua’s Second Chance Foundation

The Mission of Yeshua’s Second Chance Foundation is to facilitate the successful return and integration of ex-offenders into the mainstream of society. The Foundation pursues this mission through conducting asset management procedures, development projects, and the provision of support activities and services appropriate to the personal, economic and/or employment needs of its clientele. The primary outcomes of the Foundations’ work are designed to develop individuals who approach their lives with renewed vigor, sense of self-worth and commitment to becoming assets to their families and communities.
To achieve its mission the Yeshua’s Second Chance Foundation is committed to supporting the renaissance of ex-offenders by:

  • Providing a range of cognitive and emotional behaviors, social skills, and decision-making strategies aimed at enhancing personal, moral and social responsibility.
  • Applying research-based methods designed to promote character, positive attitudes, educational and interpersonal skills that enhance personal social and community productivity.
  • Promoting the development of skills requisite to responsible and successful citizenry as part of community integration.

The Yeshua’s Second Chance Foundation recognizes that the challenges to successful ex-offender re-entry include inclusion, equity, education, employment, empowerment and opportunity. In the past these challenges were often presented as legal and moral imperatives. Today, these challenges represent a new economic dimension vital to the interests of all society. The Foundation is committed to fully prepare ex-offenders to seek and achieve their goals and become productive members of their community. The Foundation is dedicated to facilitating the conversion of these valuable human resources to productive citizen capable and committed to compete in the emerging global economy. By reducing a multitude of barriers faced by most ex-offenders as they seek to make the best of their second chance, the Foundation will provide timely programs and services that ensure their successful re-entry. The standards of such services are to promote gainful and relevant employment, eliminate substance dependency, enhance family reunification, and sustain self-worth. The benefits to the community are incalculable; but the most obvious include increased public safety, crime reduction, and the promotion of productive tax-paying citizens.

Yeshua’s Second Chance Foundation is committed to the following core program strategies in order to achieve its mission and fulfill its purpose:

  • Substance Abuse Prevention and Treatment
    • Chemical dependency awareness.
    • Early identification of conditions contributing to substance abuse behaviors.
    • Recognizing and controlling habit-forming behaviors
    • Effective strategies for interdiction.
  • Adult Applied Literacy and Personal Development
    • Enhanced capacity for individuals to apply literacy skills to life experiences, problem solving and personal growth.
    • Provide positive environments that foster self-confidence and self-determination.
  • Re-entry Support Services
    • Family re-unification.
    • Basic transition support services.
    • Pre-employment support assistance.
    • Personal counseling.
  • Employment Training and Placement
    • Customized employment training by job field.
    • Generic orientation to employment and the labor market.
    • Individualized assessment profiles including aptitudes, attitudes and skills.
    • Employment development
    • Monitoring job-placement including post employment services.
  • Advocacy
    • A supportive and collaborative community that supports for the clientele.
    • Connecting agencies and services that support clienteles’ re-entry needs.
    • Proactive strategies that create general awareness and understanding; and lead to policy and legislative initiatives.
  • Government Relations
    • Establish and maintain viable relationships with elected and appointed government officials.
    • An active advocacy group among government officials in support of the Foundation and its goals.
    • A systematic and effective means of continuous communication with government officials.
  • Research and Evaluation
    • Continuous assessment of all programs and services operated by the Foundation.
    • Structured database to accommodate management and analysis of assessment information
    • Dissemination of research and analyses of successful practices and trends.
    • Utilization of data and information to make relevant projections and analyses.
